Consider setting up a large screen and watch DYC 2022 LIVE on YouTube with all of your teens. Check out some tips below to enhance their experience!
It is not necessary to do ALL of the tips below--pick and choose what works best for you and your teens! -
1. Gather a bit early…
DYC begins at 11am...consider gathering earlier as to allow time for snacks, short prayer and Ice Breakers and/or short discussions to get the blood flowing.
You could use the poll questions for ice breakers (they will be used live in the game)
And/or use the same questions from the video submissions for small or large group discussion which will help them to start to think about the theme. Similar questions/discussion will be featured live.
Then watch together fully participating in the game and virtual discussions through the chat.
We are suggesting the group watch DYC live on a large screen together but teens can use their phones to contribute to the chat. Please see the tips for how to accomplish this below.
2. Have teens participate in the LIVE chat
Set up the big screen and have teens participate in the chat by having them connect on their phones. You could also have a “designated chat person” to put info in the chat on behalf of the group.Check out how you can do that by downloading the "Chat interaction tips". 2. Set the mood for prayer
Consider having candles ready for the closing prayer. You can use flameless candles or use one "Prayer candle" candle. If possible, set up an altar with a sacred image (e.g a statue or picture of the Holy Family in remembrance of The Year of the Family), a bible and place the candle there.
3. Have snacks! And/or have Lunch together
A good watch party always has good snacks! Consider having individually wrapped snacks like bags of popcorn, chips, cookies, etc. with bottles of water, etc. Make sure to have plenty of hand sanitizers around!
Considering COVID safety pre-cautions, if you are able to have lunch together after DYC, it is a great time to process what they expereinced and build on anything that struck the teens during the live stream.
