"Few would argue that the pastoral visit of His Holiness Pope Francis for the World Meeting of Families 2015 did not move our hearts deeply.
The reason?
Because Pope Francis moved our hearts deeply."
Bishop David M. O'Connell, C.M., traveled to Washington, D.C., for a gathering of U.S. Bishops with Pope Francis. The Holy Father made stops along the East Coast to Washington, D.C., New York and Philadelphia during his first visit to the United States.
After the moving visit, Bishop O'Connell reflected, "Pope Francis is an amazing, awesome man whose entire being is a sermon. In text, tone and gesture he teaches the mind and warms the heart. May he continue to be a Shepherd who knows and loves the sheep, who unites them in mercy and truth and who leads them home to the Church, where the Gospel of Christ transforms people into their truest, best selves."

It was hard NOT to be moved by Pope Francis' presence, proximity and messages, especially as we saw him just over the river in our neighboring Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The multimedia team of the Diocese of Trenton was on hand to capture moments, thoughts and feelings with pilgrims who journeyed from near and far to share in the Holy Father's visit in its piece Transformed by Love.
One of Pope Francis' notable gifts is his ability to connect with youth. The community at Donovan Catholic in Toms River was on fire with excitement about the Pontiff's visit, celebrating Pope Francis with style.
The Diocese's RealFaithTV teens were on hand to speak with members of the Donovan Catholic family.
