The Holy Father has extended the opportunity for a plenary indulgence “to grandparents, elderly and all the faithful” who participate this weekend in World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly and “to the faithful who devote adequate time to visit, in presence or virtually, through the media, their elderly brothers and sisters in need or in difficulty.” The indulgence also applies to those who cannot leave home due to illness or other age-related incapacity but who participate spiritually. The usual conditions for receiving the plenary indulgence apply: sacramental confession, Holy Communion and prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father. To read more, click HEREBISHOP DAVID M. Conv., parochial vicar, St. Junipero Serra Parish, Seaside Park, NJ, effective Aug. 15, 2022NATIONAL NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING AWARENESS WEEK, a national educational campaign sponsored by the United States Catholic Bishops, will take place July 24-30, marked in the Diocese of Trenton this year by a special emphasis on the role of husbands and fathers.
The week coincides with several noteworthy dates, including the anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae (July 25), which articulates Catholic beliefs about human sexuality, conjugal love, and responsible parenthood.
The dates also mark the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne (July 26), the parents of the Blessed Mother. Read more HERE.
