September 25, 2018This weekend brought the beginning of autumn and cooler weather, setting the perfect atmosphere for a busy weekend in the Diocese of Trenton. People across the diocese celebrated their faith and service to others during the annual Guardian Angel Dinner Dance, the NJ Charismatic Conference and the annual spiritual assembly for the diocesan St. Vincent de Paul society.
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. attended the 29 th annual Guardian Angel Dinner Dance, held Sept. 22 by Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton. During this CCDOT fundraiser, several people and organizations were honored for their work within the Diocese.

The annual NJ Charismatic Conference was held from Sept. 21-22 in St. Mary Mother of God Church, Middletown.
Under the theme, “Jesus Is Lord!,” the two-day event was sponsored by the Diocese of Trenton Catholic Charismatic Renewal. More than 200 attendees took part in praise and worship, a healing service, Mass and listened to talks from an array of speakers who are known locally, nationally and internationally.

The diocesan St. Vincent de Paul society welcomed Bishop O’Connell, as he celebrated Mass during their annual Spiritual Assembly in St. Martha Church, Point Pleasant.
The assembly is held yearly in September to mark the feast days of St. Vincent de Paul, the French priest renowned for his service to the poor, and Blessed Frederic Ozanam, who formed the society in St. Vincent’s name that serves the poor in 140 countries around the world. This event is particularly special for Bishop O’Connell, who is a Vincentian priest, dedicated to the mission of St. Vincent de Paul.

Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will serve as principal celebrant and homilist of the third annual Monmouth County Red Mass at 12 noon Sept. 30 sponsored by and held in St. Michael Church, West End. The Mass is open to all individuals, especially those in the legal profession.
In the United States, the Red Mass is traditionally celebrated the Sunday before the first Monday of October, the opening of the judicial term of the U.S. Supreme Court. For more information on the Red Mass, call the parish office at 732-222-8080. St. Michael Parish is at 800 Ocean Ave., West End.
