Our parish team is on the lookout for a part-time team member to visit the sick and homebound, while also coordinating this ministry among members. Other responsibilities would include: accompanying families through loss and assisting others to do the same; facilitating movement through the grief process in a small group; and coordinating with the clergy on member care. The ideal candidate will be prayerful, joyful, and spirit-filled, have good organization and communication skills, comfort in praying with others and a good listening heart. Mostly daytime hours with occasional night or weekend commitments, about 15 hours/week.
MUST HAVES:
Love for the Catholic faith and a desire to share that experience by listening and praying with others Ability to maintain confidentiality in all pastoral matters
Solid communication and organizational skills to coordinate efforts, and strong interpersonal skills to build relationships
Computer proficiency in preparing documents and maintaining data
Desire to learn and grow personally and professionally
NICE-TO-HAVES:
Expertise in both formal and informal correspondence
A spirituality that accompanies others to meet God
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordination of and direct ministry to sick and homebound
Coordination of funeral details while accompanying families through the grief process, including following up after the funeral.
Maintaining connection with members around life events (Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, etc)
Practice a ministry of presence with a prayerful spirit, which may include occasional evening or weekend commitments.
