Inter-parish collaboration is the focus this week, as parish leaders from across the four counties of the Diocese are gathering for one of two presentations being offered May 10 and 11.
The Diocese of Trenton’s Department of Pastoral Planning is sponsoring the workshops, led by Mark Mogilka, director of stewardship and pastoral services for the Diocese of Green Bay, to equip parish leaders in relation to the recent
Faith in our Future pastoral planning decisions, which will begin to be implemented in July. A workshop for Mercer and Burlington county parish leaders is May 10 in the Diocesan Chancery, Lawrenceville, and one for those in Monmouth and Ocean county is May 11 in St. Mary Church, Colts Neck.
The workshops are designed to support clergy, staff and parish leaders in preparing for the day when they will share pastors and resources, collaborate on ministries, and in some cases, become a completely new entity with another parish or parishes.

Photo caption: As part of his presentation, Mark Mogilka, director of stewardship and pastoral services for the Diocese of Green Bay, asked parish leaders gathered May 10 in the Chancery to think about why parishes exist. He then reminded them of Pope Francis’ explanation of a parish in his apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium: “In all its activities the parish encourages and trains its members to be evangelizers.”
