New priest will be ordained for the Diocese of Trenton

Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will ordain Rev. Mr. Kevin Hrycenko to the priesthood for the Diocese of Trenton June 3 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Toms River.

Hrycenko is a native of Ocean County, belonging to St. Joseph Parish since his infant baptism in 1994.  He is a graduate of St. Joseph School and now-Donovan Catholic High School, Toms River, going on to The Catholic University of America in Washington and Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland.  (See news release for more background)

The Mass is open to family, friends and well-wishers, and will be livestreamed on Youtube.com/trentondiocese.

 
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES … The Ordination Rite and the day’s celebration are filled with dramatic moments that lend themselves well to photographs.  Among them are:

• Entrance Processional (beginning of Mass) and Recessional (end of Mass)
• Anointing of Hands (Bishop anoints the hands of the priest candidate with sacred chrism, sanctifying him for ministry.)
• Litany of Supplication (candidate lays prostrate on the floor as a sign of complete dependence on God)
• Laying on of Hands (Bishop places his hands on the head of the candidate ordaining him to the priesthood)
• Vesting (The new priest is vested in the garments of his office)
• Kiss of Peace (dozens of priests in attendance welcome their new brother with an embrace)
• Blessing of Bishop (the newly ordained priest blesses Bishop O'Connell)

First Blessings (following Mass, those in attendance approach the new priest for his blessing.
