Dozens of teens from parishes across Ocean County are participating in Mission: Jersey, a week-long service experience sponsored by the Diocesan Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.
The event began July 30, and has included volunteer projects such as preparing and serving meals in both the Lunch Break soup kitchen in Red Bank and Sister Jean’s Kitchen in Atlantic City; sorting and packing canned goods in the Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s Egg Harbor Township location and helping work at Bruised Reed Farm, Goshen, where fresh produce from the farm supports local food pantries. The week has also included time for fellowship and prayer. Mission: Jersey will conclude Aug. 4 with Mass.
The hope is to expand the Mission: Jersey program to more teens in the Diocese of Trenton in 2018.
