Members of the Diocese of Trenton’s Implementation Commission are meeting June 20-21 for a retreat in the Chancery, Lawrenceville, to review action plans, provide responses and deepen understanding in the implementation stage of
Faith in Our Future.
Faith in Our Future is an eight-step pastoral planning process that was commissioned by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., in 2015 to strengthen and enliven the parishes of the Diocese.
After months of study at parish and Cohort levels, the Diocese’s Planning Commission offered recommendations for parish restructuring and development in November 2016. After consultation with several diocesan bodies and the presbyterate, Bishop O’Connell announced his decisions in January 2017. The Bishop’s decisions are expected to be implemented over the next three years.
The two-day Implementation Commission retreat began with Mass and orientation, during which Bishop O’Connell welcomed the commission members and thanked them for their commitment to the Faith in Our Future process. The day also featured plenary sessions, including an overview of project goals, as well as discussions among Cohort members from each of the Diocese’s four counties.
