Each year, the CCHD-DT gives out three to five grants, each totaling $2,000 to $10,000. The grants are comprised of funds received from an annual, Diocese-wide collection the weekend before Thanksgiving. This year’s collection is Nov. 18-19.
Three criteria were established to ensure transparency in the application and grant-award process:
Priority will be given to new initiatives taken by agencies and to those that enhance or provide for a foundation of self-sufficiency.
The agency will have a mission of providing social services with a focus on basic human needs, such as food, clothing, shelter or jobs.
Applications will only be accepted from Catholic social agencies recognized as such by the National Catholic Directory and parish social service outreach programs in the Diocese of Trenton.
Grants will not be given to fund salaries, building upgrades, operating deficits, research projects or fundraising costs.
