Diocesan Pentecost Rally slated, Bishop celebrated Mass with Catholic Youth at Six Flags

May 20, 2019The Diocese of Trenton’s Catholic Charismatic Renewal will host its annual Pentecost Rally, slated for June 8 in Mary, Mother of God Church, Middletown.
The rally will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and include dynamic talks, personal testimonies,and time for participants to be prayed with by a ministry team. Keynote speakers include Father Jeff Kegley, pastor of St. Mary, Parish, Amanda O’Sullivan, Gez Ford and Jim Tortorici. A children’s ministry will be available for families with young children.
The Pentecost Rally will conclude with the Vigil Mass on the Solemnity of Pentecost, celebrated by Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.

Mary, Mother of God Church is located at 19 Cherry Tree Farm Road, Middletown.
The annual NJ Catholic Youth Rally, organized by the Dioceses of Trenton, Camden, Metuchen, and Paterson as well as the Archdiocese of Newark, brought together parish youth ministries and leaders, families and faith communities for a day of fun, lunch, Mass and a concert by Christian artist Matt Maher in Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari, Jackson.
Faithful of all ages roamed the park during the day, after which they gathered at 5 p.m. in the park arena to attend Mass with youth from across the entire state of New Jersey. Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. was the main celebrant, joined by nearly a dozen concelebrating priests from the Diocese of Trenton.
Bishop O’Connell offered an encouraging message to the youth in attendance during his homily:
“Here’s the fact: We are all created by God just as we are, and God loves us just as we are, regardless of what others may think about us. Don’t let anyone tell you differently,” Bishop O’Connell continued. “At every moment of our lives, God is present, offering us his love. Our strengths, our talents are God’s gifts. Our weaknesses are God’s gifts, too, opportunities to grow. No one is perfect. Everyone is different. We grow. We change. We mature. But right now we are who we are.”
After Mass, Maher took the stage for a 90-minute concert performance for all in attendance.
