The Diocese of Trenton will join with sister dioceses around the nation to take up the annual Peter’s Pence Collection at all Masses during the weekend of June 30-July 1. Entitled “Be a Witness of Charity,” the collection assists the Holy Father to respond with emergency financial assistance to requests for aid to the neediest throughout the world – those who suffer as a result of war, oppression and natural disasters.
The USCCB National Collections Committee oversees the promotion of the Peter’s Pence Collection, which has raised over $190 million in aid. For more information,
visit the USCCB website. Donations can also be mailed directly to Peter’s Pence Collection, The Apostolic Nunciature, 3339 Massachusetts Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20008.
For a second year,
Mission: Jersey will be held on a diocesan level and sponsored by the
diocesan Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. High school students can jump into service this summer with multiple opportunities to put faith into action as the annual service project grows to include two events.
The first event will be held on July 12-15 at St. Gregory the Great Parish, Hamilton Square. The second will run July 29-Aug. 3 in St. Theresa Parish, Tuckerton. Youth who attend will sleep overnight on parish grounds but travel during the days to service locations around the Diocese, as well as have opportunities for prayer, faith-sharing and making new friends in faith.
Click here to see a video recap of Mission: Jersey 2017. Young adults ages 18 to 39 are invited to share an evening with their peers at “Faith Uncorked” from 7 to 9 p.m. June 28 at the Iron Plow Winery, 26750 Mount Pleasant Road, Columbus.
Sponsored by the diocesan
Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, the theme will be “Is God in all you do: your finances, career and relationships? Ever wonder: How do I know God’s will?” and feature guest speaker Father Edmund A. Luciano III of the Diocese of Metuchen. There is a suggested donation of $10 for the event, which includes wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres. A cash bar will be available after the wine tasting. You must be 21 years old to drink and ID’s will be checked at the event.
