ON FEB. 18, BISHOP DAVID M. O’CONNELL, C.M., SHARED AN UPDATE on the health of Pope Francis and asked the faithful of the Diocese, and people of good will everywhere to join him in prayer.
The Bishop wrote: “Please keep in your prayers our Holy Father, Pope Francis. He continues to be treated at Gemelli Hospital in Rome for pneumonia in both lungs as well as what has been described as a ‘complex’ respiratory problem.”
Bishop O’Connell continued, “May he be comforted in this time of illness by the prayers and well-wishes offered for him from around the world, and may his recovery be swift and complete.”

Hosted by the diocesan Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, the daylong retreat will begin at 10:30 a.m. and end after the 4:30 p.m. parish Mass.
Keynote speaker will be Kate Capato, a Catholic, professional sacred art painter and inspirational speaker who uses her art as part of her witness. She creates oil paintings inspired by prayer and the powerful church teachings. She is greatly influenced by Pope John Paul II’s teachings on The Theology of the Body as well as the Renaissance masters due to the time she spent studying painting in Florence, Italy. She seeks to bring others deeper into a relationship with Christ and an awareness of who they are as men and women, through beauty.
