ACTION ALERT: Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act

S3804/A5508 is part of a package of bills that the Governor and the legislature are supporting to create a New Jersey version of the federal Affordable Care and Patient Protection Act of 2010.

Unfortunately, the bills would expand insurance coverage for abortion inducing drugs and eliminate the religious employers’ exemption contained in New Jersey law (P.L. 2005, C.251).

The bills are on a fast track and soon will be scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

Please contact your legislators and ask that they protect the religious employers’ exemption contained in current State law.

If the religious employers’ exemption is eliminated, our Catholic parishes and schools would be forced to provide insurance coverage for abortion inducing drugs.
