Lenten / Holy Week Evangelization Campaign  2023

Lent is a special season in which to conduct an outreach.  We hope every parish has something in mind.  In order to be of assistance, the diocesan Department of Evangelization and Family Life has prepared a simple “Lenten/Holy Week Evangelization Campaign” for your consideration.  This is how the campaign works.

• Your parish orders a quantity of beautiful Lenten Door hangers pre-customized with a special Lenten message.  The parish name and website will be on the front and your parish’s Lenten activities will be on the back (see sample below)
• Invite some members of your parish ministries or all parishioners to a day of Evangelization by placing Lenten Door hangers on front doors of the homes around the parish territory 
• When residents find this message on their door, they will know that your parish will be there to receive them. Some of the people may start coming to your parish regularly and may, at some point, wish to get involved in your community.

 
This Evangelization Campaign will touch people’s hearts--not only those who will receive the door hanger, but also those who will distribute them.

If your parish is interested in participating in the Lenten/Holy Week Evangelization Campaign 2020, please complete the form attached and return it to us. This will allow several weeks for the printing to be accomplished and for you to organize your efforts before the start of Lent.

Preparation:

• Order the door hangers through the diocese or through the print shop (see information below)
  • English
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Bilingual/trilingual
• Map of the church’s territory (the diocese can provided this for you).
• Choose the streets to cover, if not all
• Know about the local law regarding door hangers (the diocese can help you with that)
• Select a team
  • Options:
    • Youth and parents
    • All parish ministries
    • All parishioners 

1. Welcoming committee
   • Set up coffee, bread, etc.
   • Make a bag (kit) for the walkers
     • Water
     • Snack
     • Door hangers
2. Prayer warriors
   • Pray a week before the day of the event
   • Pray during the event in the church
   • Pray a week after the event
3. Walkers
   • Hang the door hangers in the assigned street
   • Pray while doing it

• Start with 9 am mass (if possible)
• 9:30 am - distribution of streets to cover for the participants and a “Blessing of Sending.”
• 12 pm - everybody gathers together for a prayer of thanks giving, for lunch and to share experiences

The size of the door hanger is 4.25" X 11" The die cut door hangers are printed on a glossy and water proof material.
