In an advisory proclamation dated May 5, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., has informed his flock of the Plenary Indulgence opportunity granted by Pope Francis in connection with the 100th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions.
The indulgence is part of the Our Lady of Fatima Centennial, which began Nov. 27, 2016 and extends until Nov. 26, 2017.

This year the Catholic Church celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the events at the Cova da Iria area of Fatima, Portugal, witnessed by three shepherd children who reported that they saw visions of Mary beginning on May 13, 1917, and then again on the 13th day of five subsequent months.
While tending sheep in a field, Lucia dos Santos and her two younger cousins, Blesseds Francisco and Jacinta Marto, reported seeing a woman dressed all in white, "more brilliant than the sun, shedding rays of light clearer and stronger than a crystal glass filled with the most sparkling water and pierced by the burning rays of the sun."
Calling herself "Our Lady of the Rosary," Mary asked the children to pray the rosary daily for the conversion of sinners. She asked for prayer, penance and the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart. [Continue reading ...]
Our Lady of Fatima statues available for public veneration
The following are parishes in the Diocese of Trenton where a statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be made available in solemn exposition for the purpose of public veneration. The list will be updated as more information becomes available: Reminder: Pilgrims are to pray the Our Father, recite the Creed and invoke Our Lady of Fatima during their visit.
Christ the King Parish, Long Branch, will expose the statue of Our Lady of Fatima from 6:15 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the 13th of each month through October in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 101 Chelsea Ave., Long Branch. Pilgrims are welcome to venerate the statue. Call 732-222-3216 for more information.
Jesus, the Good Shepherd Parish, Riverside, will expose the statue of Our Lady of Fatima from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturdays and 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays in St. Peter Church, 101 Middleton Street. Those in attendance are invited to pray the Rosary. The statue will be shifted to St. Joseph Church, 805 Warren Street, Beverly, July 1. Call 856-461-0100 for more information.
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Maple Shade, will honor Our Lady of Fatima for the indulgence the 13th of every month through October at 236 E. Main Street. For information, call 856-667-8850.
St. Aloysius Parish, Jackson, will enshrine the Virgin of Fatima in the Church between May 13 and Oct 13. A Mass commemorating the 100th Anniversary will be offered at 9 a.m. May 13 followed by a Novena. On June 13, July 13, Aug. 15, Sept. 13 and Oct. 13 the Novena will follow the 8 a.m. Mass. the church is located at 935 Bennetts Mills Road. Call 732-370-0500 for more information.
St. Catherine Laboure, Middletown, will have its Image of Our Lady of Fatima in solemn exposition in the Sanctuary from the 12th to the 14th of each month. The church at 110 Bray Ave., Middletown, will be open for private veneration and prayer.Rosary devotions and other prayers will be said as each day permits. Call 732-787-1318 for more information.
St. Veronica Parish, Howell, will have its statue of Our Lady of Fatima in its Adoration Chapel at 4215 Hwy. 9 North the 13th of every month through October. For information, call 732-363-4200.

The following events have been scheduled in observance of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima, when the Blessed Mother appeared to the three children in the Portuguese village of Fatima. This list will be updated as more information becomes available:
St. Aloysius Parish, Jackson, will offer a Novena commemorating the 100th Anniversary. On July 13, Aug. 15, Sept. 13 and Oct. 13 the Novena will follow the 8 a.m. Mass.
St. Denis Parish, Manasquan, invites the faithful to pray near the stained-glass window of Our Lady of Fatima inside the church at 90 Union Ave. The parish also posted a reflection, here.
