The Office of Clergy assists the Bishop in the assignment of priests and deacons in the diocese, handles all personnel matters pertaining to active and retired priests, as well as permanent deacons. In addition, it assists priests from outside the diocese who seek to minister in the diocese.
The Office of Clergy reports to the Bishop and is responsible for the training and formation of men to the Permanent Diaconate and continues to assist all deacons following ordination.
God calls each person to a life of holiness and service, whether single, married, ordained or consecrated. The Diocesan Ministry of Vocations provides discernment opportunities, encouragement, support, education and resources for those responding to God’s call through the ministerial priesthood.
We are committed to fostering an environment where vocations to the priesthood are valued and nurtured within the domestic church of the family and the local parish community.
Serving under the direction of the Vicar for Clergy and Consecrated Life, the Delegate for Religious Life represents the Bishop offering canonical and pastoral service to all called to the vocation of consecrated life in the Latin Catholic Church living and/or serving in the Diocese of Trenton i.e., major superiors, and other members of institutes and societies of consecrated life, as well as consecrated virgins.
The Office assists in formulating, distributing, and clarifying diocesan policies, ministerial agreements, and compensation scales for consecrated persons serving in diocesan, parochial, health care and social service offices/institutions in the diocese.
The Delegate also facilitates dialogue with major superiors and their members by providing education, support and assistance in issues pertaining to their consecrated lifestyles.
