ALL YOUNG ADULTS 18 AND OLDER WHO ARE INTERESTED in attending the World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon are invited to attend a virtual information session on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The virtual session is open to anyone in the Dioceses of Trenton and Camden and will be a time to learn about the August 2023 WYD and ask questions. Login information for the meeting will be given at time of registration.
“This [virtual meeting] is for anyone who is interested or even just thinking about attending the WYD trip,” said Dan Waddington, director of the Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Trenton Diocese. The group that ultimately goes to Lisbon will comprise pilgrims from both Camden and Trenton Dioceses, “who will plan and travel together for the entire experience,” he noted.
“We will cover everything – from the cost, hotel, travel arrangements, itinerary and more,” Waddington said of the pilgrimage. “We would welcome questions on all this and more!
World Youth Day is a powerful and potentially life-changing event. We are really excited to partner with the Diocese of Camden and help as many young adults as possible to join together with the global Church and the Holy Father in Lisbon.”

Slated for Oct. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Trenton Country Club, 201 Sullivan Way, West Trenton, the Gala serves as the Guild’s annual fundraiser and enables the organization to assist those in need of home health nursing, food, utilities and rental assistance and general community support.
Since 1920, the Guild has focused on two goals – to provide assistance via its Home Health Nursing Program and the Community Support Program, noted Guild executive director Mary Inkrot.
“Daily, we receive calls for help,” Inkrot said. “Our staff is always trying to connect care receivers to additional resources. Since the onset of the pandemic, we have seen a significant increase in the number of households seeking assistance. [This year], the average increased to 1,400 households visits per month, with a record number of 1,800 household visits in August.”
The Gala will serve as an opportunity to thank a number of individuals and entities who have been of great assistance to its mission. This year’s Award winners are:
Guild Civic Champion Award - Bill Coleman on Behalf of BeKind Good Neighbor Award - Eet Gud Bakery – owner Tracey Destribats Community Service Award - Michael J. Herbert, Esq. Bishop Thomas J Walsh Award - Dick and Nancy Smith Guild Appreciation Award - Hawkins & Christabelle Sutter
