CHRISTMAS IS A UNIQUELY SPECIAL TIME EACH YEAR and The Monitor’s annual Christmas issue has always included messages, information and stories to enrich readers’ celebration during this beautiful and sacred season. But this year’s Christmas issue also leads readers through the transformational arrival of the Jubilee Year, which Pope Francis will inaugurate on Christmas Eve when he opens the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica.  
The newly posted December issue not only brings you the Advent/Christmas message from Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., as well as stories and reflections about this season from people and parishes around the Diocese, it also introduces the Holy Year observance and how the theme of hope is a beacon for our journey.  Look for reporting on how the Church has prepared for the Jubilee Year, and the many ways that we all can respond to the call to be “Pilgrims of Hope.”
