CELEBRATION IS A RECURRING THEME that runs through many of the coverage pieces included in your latest issue of The Monitor Magazine.
From the Month of Mary to Holy Week and Easter, the May issue shares the stories of the many beautiful ways that our parish and school communities commemorated the observances and traditions that are so central to our Catholic faith and dear to our hearts.
This month’s IN FOCUS explores the special role that Mary has held throughout history as mother to us all, and how so many in the Diocese draw strength from her example of unconditional love. Don’t miss Bishop O’Connell’s message on what we can learn from Mary during this, her special month.
The celebration continues in our reporting of several recent joyful events, including Bishop O’Connell’s reception of the relics of beatified teenager, Blessed Carlo Acutis, during a special Mass in St. Dominic Church, Brick, April 28. A few days later, the Bishop joined members of the Filipino community in the Diocese for their celebration of 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines.
This is also a time to celebrate the men who are preparing to be ordained deacons May 21 by Bishop O’Connell. We introduce you to the five who will be ordained permanent deacons and the one seminarian who will be ordained a transitional deacon as he prepares for his priestly ordination expected next year.
