Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., will speak of the special call today from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, on the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, to fast and pray for a renewed national commitment to honoring the sacredness of all human life from conception through natural death on the latest installment of “The Shepherd’s Voice,” an hour-long, monthly radio program and video produced by Domestic Church Media.
The Bishop will also discuss some of the fall-out following revelations that the Supreme Court seems poised to overturn Roe vs. Wade and Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, shifting the question of abortion back to the states. He will also discuss the unique challenges faced here in New Jersey where efforts are underway to not only preserve, but expand abortion access, and the vehement outcry from the state’s Catholic bishops in response. Among a series of upcoming events, Bishop O’Connell highlights the canonization by Pope Francis of 10 individuals May 15 and the highly anticipated ordination of six new deacons for the Diocese May 21.
