Contest winners & Bishop’s birthday

Chancery staff gathered April 24 to help celebrate the 62 ^nd birthday of Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M.  After being treated to a lively round of the “Happy Birthday” song, Bishop O’Connell blew out his candles, and thanked everyone for their warm wishes.

The Diocese recently announced the winners of the 2017 Respect Life Poster, Essay and Video Contest. Supporting the theme “Moved by Mercy,” the contest was open to students of Catholic schools and parish religious education programs, as well as youth groups members, who were asked to express their visions of life’s intrinsic value.

Entries were grouped by the following grade levels: kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, and sixth through eighth grade. Six diocesan winners were chosen overall, with first and second place runners-up in each grade group by county.
