February 25, 2022The Diocese of Trenton is currently seeking a catholic college student or individual who is committed to social justice for a 2022-2023 internship program. This intern will work with the Acting Diocesan Director (DD) for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD).
Training for the CCHD internship will take place in Washington D.C. from June 1st – 3rd, 2022. Intern must be able to attend the CCHD training for which costs for the training, including travel, are covered.
The position offers 14-16 hours per week for twenty-four weeks between September and May and will pay $14/hour.
In collaboration with and reporting to the CCHD-DD, the intern will work to:- increase awareness of the work of CCHD throughout the diocese.
- assist in expanding the number of members on the CCHD committee;
- promote the annual parish collection;
- assist in creating a CCHD devoted webpage; and
- Other responsibilities, as time and talents allow, may include:
- learning about grant-funded organizations,
- identify potential candidates for national CCHD grant eligibility,
- promoting/managing a CCHD art contest in area schools, and
- evaluating grant applications and making funding decisions as part of the CCHD committee.
- strong writing and speaking skills;
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- a good understanding of Catholic social teaching and the root causes of poverty, and
- experience in working with low-income and/or marginalized populations.
Driver license required and having his or her own transportation helpful, but not required, (job related mileage will be reimbursed if own vehicle used). The selected intern will be required to complete Virtus training and submit to a background check prior to attending the CCHD training in Washington, DC.
