The Diocese of Trenton joins with other dioceses across the country in encouraging support for the annual Catholic Communication Campaign collection slated for the weekend of May 12-13.
The collection, sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, allows Catholics an opportunity to support evangelization of the Gospel message through technology and social media by supporting the production and publishing of high-quality Catholic content via the internet, television, radio and print. Half of the proceeds collected remain in the Diocese, while half is forwarded to the USCCB’s Catholic Communication Campaign office.
On May 9, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., and the Diocese of Trenton, hosted local New Jersey Legislators from Districts 6, 7, 10, 13, 14, 15 and 30 at a breakfast in his home. Deacon Patrick Brannigan, executive director of the New Jersey Catholic Conference, and Father Michael Wallack, secretary to the Bishop, also participated in the gathering.
The Bishop thanked the legislators present --- Senators James Beach, Troy Singleton (and his assistant Jennifer Aydjin), James W. Holzapfel, Linda Greenstein, Shirley Turner, Assemblywoman Serena DiMaso and Assemblyman Edward H. Thomson --- for their great public service and expressed gratitude for their willingness to meet with him, given their very busy schedules.
Due to the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord and the holiday weekend, the Chancery offices in Lawrenceville will be closed tomorrow, May 10 and Friday, May 11.
The Feast of the Ascension of the Lord is a Holy Day of Obligation. Please check with your local parish to find out Mass times.
