Mount Carmel Guild
Mount Carmel Guild seeks to improve the quality of life of the people of Trenton by providing for the needy, caring for the elderly and teaching the children of low-income families. The Guild, which began in 1920, is supported by parishioners in Mercer and other counties, and by other individuals, businesses and the community.
Service Areas
Home Health Nursing Services
609-392-5150
The service offers compassionate care to the elderly with geriatric ailments through nurses and home health aides who provide such services as prepouring medication, prefilling insulin syringes and maintaining health through proper grooming needs.
The elderly, whose Medicare coverage has been exhausted, are referred for service to doctors or community nursing agencies.
Emergency Assistance Program
609-392-3402
The staff distributes a 3- to 5-day supply of food monthly to more than 450 heads of households for themselves and their families. Those assisted may be part-time or low-entry level workers; many are on fixed incomes such as seniors or persons with disabilities.
A grant allows the organization to offer special food packages and nutritional counseling to any Mercer County resident who is HIV positive and is referred by a case manager.
