Office for Consecrated Life
The Office for Consecrated Life provides liaison between the Bishop and all consecrated religious ministering and/or living in the diocese. The office maintains the following focus:
- extending a pastoral presence to religious, consecrated virgins, and members of secular institutes in/or entering the diocese
- serving as the Bishop’s contact with the Major Superiors of congregations that have members ministering in the diocese of Trenton
- working collaboratively to form and distribute diocesan policies, ministerial agreements and compensation scales for religious in diocesan and parish work
- coordinating within the diocese the annual Collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious
Services
- maintaining a database on vowed religious and information for all consecrated persons in the diocese
- communicating news and information about ministry openings, housing, compensation scales, events for religious and other items of interest to consecrated persons
- maintaining contact with religious in the diocese through visits and participation in local events/celebrations at residences and ministry sites, including contemplative monasteries
- representing concerns, grievances and questions of individual religious and groups to the appropriate persons, when requested, honoring confidentiality
- working collaboratively with the local church through the Secretariat Personnel in Ministry, and other diocesan departments, for the benefit of the diocese and consecrated persons
- representing the diocese through participation in national and regional organizations for consecrated persons
- planning events and meetings of consecrated persons, such as World Day for Consecrated Life, celebrations of jubilarians, and meetings of consecrated persons with the Bishop
