Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities
Janis Bell, M.Ed., diocesan Advocate for Persons with Disabilities, works to promote inclusion of challenged individuals and to encourage mentoring and partnering within the church community. The Office of Family Life is fortunate to have on staff a trained, experienced advocate to serve the needs of the disabled person, as well as their caretakers and their educators.
Efforts focus on referencing resources and networking with other organizations and agencies to serve persons with special needs within our diocese. Other concerns which are addressed include accessibility for the physically challenged in the church complex, inclusion in liturgical worship and fellowship for all persons.
