Celebrating Marriage: A Call, A Promise, A Lifetime

Everybody loves a wedding. Memories of weddings conjure up many images: flowers, beautiful dresses and handsome tuxes, the glowing faces of the bride and groom, the tearful joy of mothers and fathers, the heartfelt love of family and friends.

Ask any married couple, and they'll say that their wedding day was one of the most wonderful, unforgettable days of their lives. If they're honest, they may also admit that getting there was a roller coaster, and at times they wondered whether they were doing the right thing. The lucky ones are still riding the roller coaster after 10, 15, 25 years or more. And those couples will be happy to tell you that in good times and bad, they were constantly sustained by God's grace.

Marriage is so much more than a wedding day: it's a lifetime of faith, fidelity and friendship with that special person chosen by God to be your spouse. Marriage is also trials and triumphs, arguments and reconciliation, growing strong and growing older - together.

The Diocese of Trenton celebrates all couples who have heard God's call to the holy and challenging vocation of marriage. We recognize the importance of married life and families, and we're grateful for all the gifts that come to the Church and to society through marriage and family.

To you who have made the commitment to be a sign to the world of God's love as reflected in the lifelong union of a man and woman, we offer our prayers and support, along with a heartfelt wish that you may ever abide in faith, hope and love!
